I've officially moved back to Olympia for the school year!
I had an amazing summer in San Diego. I worked two jobs- nannying and performing at Legoland, made a few day trips, attended my first ever music festival, and wrote a handful of new scripts. It's nice to be back in Olympia, though. I'm ready for the school year to start. I'm enrolled in a class called "Advanced Topics in the Performing Arts: The Audition and the Actor," taught by Dr. Walter Grodzik. I have high hopes, and I look forward to building a strong repertoire of audition pieces. I attended my first audition of the school year today! Haven't even been here for 48 hours. South Puget Sound Community College is producing "Good Night Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet). " I attended auditions and callbacks and have a really good feeling about it. Plus, it was the first audition in a long time where I didn't know anyone else! That proved to be a challenge- I wasn't sure of boundaries, and it took some time to get on the same level. But some actors and I instantly clicked in scenes and were able to follow each other's lead in to jokes, bits, emotions, and characters. I love the theater community. I was introduced to an elderly man named Tom who was also auditioning for SPSCC for the first time. We chatted for awhile, and he told me all about Olympia Little Theater, and their upcoming season. I'd love to work with him, so I think I will pursue their auditions! Upcoming auditions that I'm attending: Almost, Maine (Riot To Follow @ Evergreen State College), and Winnie The Pooh (Olympia Family Theater @ downtown Oly). I hope I can share good news with you soon!
